Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! Please feel free to visit a while and any comments or suggestions you may make will be greatly appreciated and accepted without judgment.

I just finished a Journey On relaxation exercise which focused on re-directing my blood flow to the muscles of my arms and legs. It was a similar experience to an exercise I do every evening when I get into bed. I used to take sleeping pills for insomnia, I have been plagued with it for many, many years. Last year I was able to stop taking sleeping pills by using this technique that was suggested in the exercise. When I go to bed now I lay in a dead man's pose on my back with my hands laying on top of my chest. I visualize each part of my body resting, relaxing, and falling asleep. I am able to fall asleep within 15 minutes of getting into bed and generally have a peaceful night. The best part, no sleeping pills and no 'hangover' the next day! It quiets the mind and relaxes the body, both of which are needed at the end of a long day.

Enjoy your weekend everyone, I will catch up with you soon!

  1. Hi Stacy, nice blog. I also enjoyed the relaxation exercise. I did it sitting at my computer so I didn't think it would work, imagine my surprise when they suggested that I try to lift my arm and I was so relaxed that I truly couldn't. Great to meet you.

  2. That is great that you can use the exercise to your benefit. I also was a "computer sitter" when I did the exercise, and it worked for me as well. I don't think that I will use this as a daily vice. I will mix it into my weekly quirks though.
Do you know what is the cause of your insomnia? Is it because your mind just goes and goes? Mine does, especially at night right before bed. Most women that I talk to (mostly mothers) have this same problem. It's like "Will you PLEASE quite down up there....I'm done thinking for the day" ;) ha ha.

  4. Aly and Samantha- I have been using this technique for about a year and I cannot believe how well it works. My mind races at night, probably because my body is shutting down and that's the cue for my brain to start. Everything and anything. When I am trying to clear my mind and the thoughts start going I just acknowledge them and remind them, ever so kindly, that now is not the time to consider these things. If I am getting ready for bed and it seems like my brain won't shut down I will journal for a few minutes and then turn off the light. That does the trick. I also have been able to get rid of my restless leg syndrome this way. I wake up feeling rested and ready to go!

  5. That is so great, we do not need those sleeping pills. Besides all the running around and thinking we do all tire definitely tires our system.
Sleeping is not a problem for me either. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I am gone. The next think I know is my alarm trying so hard to wake me up : ). Take care.
